2.      Sent 2 members to Melbourne for 71st annual foundation day.
The association asked the Regiment for two members to send to Vic to be the 2 Cav representatives for the day.  It was decided by the regiment that myself and CPL Hinds would attend the event.  The association flew us both down for the day with accommodation and car hire supplied.  It was a great day and all Vic branch members where extremely happy with the 2 Cav presents for the day.
3.      Shorty’s visit for the CO’s end of year parade.
Shorty and Susan, the Vic branch secretary, were invited to attend the 2 Cav end of year parade which they both graciously accepted.  I hosted Susan and Shorty for the duration of their visit which I took as a great. During their visit the association hosted a dinner in honour of Shorty and despite a poor turnout Shorty still had a great night.
4.        Trophies
The association has purchased a new RSM Shield and has also paid for the new  engraving also TPR Koen’s name was also added to the Scout of the year trophy.
The association sponsored the RSM and Scout of the year trophy with $1000 going to the winning scout section and a $200 gift voucher for the winner of the RSM shield.
5.      Website
The original idea of having our own NT branch website was deemed to be unworkable and through discussion with the Vic Branch it was decided that the NT branch would take over the running of the website. This will come into affect as soon as we have a volunteer with website creation experience offering to run the website.
6.        New Banner
As most of you will be aware there was a competition run at the end of last year in regards to the creation of a new association banner.  There were 2 entries by 2 Cav members and these entries where deemed unsuitable for various reasons.  The committee then stepped forward and designed the banner that you see behind me.  This banner was voted the winning design by the regiment during an extraordinary meeting held at the end of last year. Two banners where then produced with one being given to the Vic branch.
In exchange for the new banner the 2/6 also gave us their old banner that you can also see behind me.
