Susan, a short note to inform you that Ian Bryant died very suddenly.

As you know, Ian was very, very deeply involved in all things RAAC and 2 Cav for a long time.

He was my OC, then CO in that unit, promoting me to Sgt; and a great mentor and a great friend.

I shall miss him dearly.

I spoke to his wife Helen and she advised me that Lt Col Peter Jarrett (RAAC ret'd) who is a very good mate of Ian's, will be handling all things Army in relation to the funeral. Date TBA.

I assume 2 Cav may have a detachment attending, given his tenure as CO and his 10-yr tenure as Hon Col.

Regards

Noel Mc Laughlin

(RAAC 1967-88)

Update 01/11/2011
The funeral will be held on Monday 7 November 2011. The chapel is too small to accommodate everyone, hence this will be a private family ceremony followed by a Memorial Service at 1300hrs at the Hervey Bay RSL, Torquay Road, PIALBA 4655.

Ian’s brother Dave (a retired navy submariner) has asked those attending the Memorial Service to wear medals.

Funeral details will be in the major papers including the Melbourne Age either today or tomorrow.

Funeral Directors: J Kirk and Sons (07 4128 1656).
