|Message from Chris Cohen - the Second Half of 2015|
The unit has had an extremely busy year, conducting field exercises in every month of this year.
We have conducted large-scale combined activities with all other units in 3 Brigade which the unit performed at a high standard.
We have conducted the first ever amphibious task force trial on board the HMAS Canberra that was only commissioned earlier this year.
We currently have soldiers in Papua New Guinea as part of a training team, instructing possible PNG officers.
We have provided support to the Royal Military College.
We have held our Beersheba Cup Competition for excellence in dismounted skills and we are about to conduct our Keldie Cup Competition to test mounted excellence.
The Regiment has also competed in the Brigade military competitions and sporting competitions which we have done ourselves proud.
The Regiment is also preparing for the addition of the Tank Squadron, due late 2015. Preparations for Beersheba day are in full swing as there is a reunion of past and present members. (details are on the Facebook page)
The Squadrons are preparing to have their end of year Dining In nights and the Regiment is getting ready for the Regimental Ball.
The Regiment is due to slow its frantic pace down in November, so families can begin to prepare for posting to other units around the country.
And of interest to your committee the new museum is almost complete which the entrance is dedicated to the 2/6 Cavalry Commando Regiment. (photos to follow soon)
On behalf of the Regiment, we send our warmest regards and we hope that all is well with all of your Members and Families.
President 2/6 Cavalry Commando and 2nd Cavalry Regiment Association (NQ branch)
